    Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF) chief and wanted terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar arrived in Toronto with a fake passport 26 years ago. His plea claimed severe torture by Punjab Police and wrongful arrest.

    Last whereabouts

    Nijjar was shot dead on June 18 by two unidentified gunmen outside a gurdwara in Surrey in the western Canadian province of British Columbia.

    ‘Absurd’ and ‘motivated’ claims

    Indian government rejected claims made by Canadian PM linking it to the assassination of Khalistani leader. The MEA termed the allegations ‘absurd ‘and ‘motivated’ in a statement.

    Canada also expelled top Indian diplomat Pavan Kumar Rai, Canadian station chief of India’s intelligence agency RAW amid allegations linking the Indian government to the assassination of a Khalistani activist

    In response, envoy Cameron MacKay was summoned by the MEA following which senior Canadian diplomat was expelled and asked to leave within 5 days.

    Amid the tensions, security outside Canada High Commission was increased on Tuesday. Several personnel were deployed outside the Canadian high commission.

    Canada issued a travel advisory where it asked its citizens to avoid all travel to the UT of J&K due to the unpredictable security situation.

    Projecting a passion for plants, he did his bachelors in agricultural science and post graduate degree in cytogenetics.
